Posted November 02, 2018 11:59:20After a three-year journey, the developers of the historic and landmarked Salem Building Materials building in Montreal’s Westmount neighbourhood have finally unveiled their vision for the future of the building.
In a press release, the project’s design team explained that they will be building a tower with “a new aesthetic, with modern features,” including an interior courtyard and an open-plan roof.
The designers also explained that the structure will be constructed from locally sourced materials, such as reclaimed wood, concrete, and steel, with an eye towards sustainability.
The team will be designing the structure with a focus on sustainability, and a commitment to using locally sourced, locally manufactured materials in the construction of the project.
The Salem tower is one of three towers currently under construction in the Westmount district of Montreal.
The other two, which are in a separate development project, are the old and new Sherbrooke building.
The new project is being financed by a private partner, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
